Educational Tour to Mysuru
An Educational Tour was arranged for post graduate students of IIPR to Mysuru, on the 19th and 20th of Feb, 2015. The group accompanied by 4 staff members of IIPR, began the tour with a short Prayer seeking the Almighty's blessings. The students first visited Chinmaya Mission School and later Manasa Gangothri School to conduct the workshop.
As part of the educational tour the group visited All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), wherein they had an enlightening discussion with Professor G. Jayarama, Reader, Department of Clinical Psychology, AIISH. The students engaged in discussions on a wide variety of research topics in special education, disability. The students were taken around the various departments in the campus. The second visit in the list was to the Mysore University library. . The students paid a visit to the massive Library at the University and got the opportunity to look at the facilities and the various books and journals that were available there. Thirdly, they visited the Department of Psychology at Manasa Gangothri and engaged in an interactive session with Dr.G. Venkatesh Kumar, Professor, Department of Psychology. The session helped the group understand the importance of empathy and self efficacy as a tool for an effective counsellor. This was a great learning prospect for the PG students, as they got a perspective from an Expert in the field of Psychology at the onset of their Professional Careers.
To make the trip an enjoyable experience for students, the group visited few tourist locations in Mysore. The entire group visited the beautiful Brindavan gardens, the KRS dam and watched the musical fountain show.This provided everyone present an opportunity to enjoy themselves and unwind after an eventful and busy day.
On the 20th Feb, early morning the team visited the Chamundi Hills and Nandi Temple. The visit reinvigorated the students, who enjoyed the beautiful and serene environment of the temple. Towards the end of the second day, also the end of the educational tour, the group visited the historic Royal Palace of Mysore.
This tour provided the students a good blend of fun filled, learning experience.
