Eligibility & Criteria

For Undergraduate Courses -

  • Minimum of 40% marks or equivalent in PUC/12th Standard of a State/National or International Board approved by Bangalore University.
  • Students from Science/Arts/Commerce stream are eligible.
  • Students expecting PUC/12th results can apply with their 11th/ 1 PUC marks cards seeking Provisional Admission.
  • Students from NIOS (Open Schooling System) are also eligible to apply if separate marks sheets for 11th and 12th are available.
  • For B.Sc. degree – science background is required, B.Com. – psychology and economics background is required.

For Post Graduate Courses -
  • Candidates who have completed graduation with Psychology as a major subject only are eligible to apply.
  • M.Sc. Psychology Course- Minimum 40% marks in the aggregate of all the Optional Subjects in 3 years of Under graduation, with Psychology as one of the subjects and having scored aggregate 50% marks in the same.
  • M.Sc. Psychological Counselling Course- Candidates with 50% marks in the aggregate of B.A./B.Sc./B.Ed./PG Diploma in Counselling with at least one subject in Psychology or any paper/course related to Psychology.
  • Students expecting results of their final semester/year of Undergraduate course can apply with their previous semester/year marks cards seeking Provisional Admission.
  • Students from Non Psychology Background /Distance Education /Open University/ Online Graduate Courses are NOT eligible.

IIPR admits eligible students for undergraduate and postgraduate courses through a structured and transparent process based on the norms laid down by Bengaluru Central University.

For Undergraduate Courses:

  • B.A. Major :
    - Psychology – 180 seats

    B.A. Minor :
    - Journalism – 100 seats
    - Marketing – 60 seats
    - Economics – 60 seats
    - Women Studies – 60 seats
    - Optional English – 60 seats

    B.Sc Psychology – 60 seats
    B.Sc Economics – 60 seats
    B.Com – 100 seats

  • Admission Option- Direct admission through Office of Admissions IIPR
  • Criteria for Selection and Admission -
    1. Marks secured in Qualifying Examinations
    2. Personal Interview
Personal Interview is used to assess the candidate's Subject Knowledge, Aptitude, Communication skills, Attitude and Overall Suitability to the course.

For Postgraduate Course:
  1. Total Seats available for the PG courses are 60 for each course.
  2. Students seeking admission to PG courses at IIPR have the following options-

Direct Admission to IIPR through Management Quota
  • Only 30 seats are available per course.
  • Admission Process is as mentioned in the below paragraphs.
  • Fee structure is as decided by the Governing Council of IIPR as it is a Self Financing Course.

Admission to IIPR through Bengaluru Central University (BCU) Quota
  • Only 30 seats are available per course
  • Details of the admission process and fee structure are available on the website www.bcu.ac.in
  • Application forms will be issued in the month of July/August of every academic year
  • Merit list will be put up and admission counselling will be held at Bengaluru Central University, Central College Campus, Dr.Ambedkar Veedhi, Bengaluru - 560001
  • After payment of fee to BCU, candidates have to submit the original fee paid challan along with admission note to Office of Admissions IIPR.

  1. Marks secured in Qualifying Examinations
  2. Personal Interview
    • Personal Interview is used for assessing the candidate's Subject Knowledge, Aptitude, Communication skills, Attitude and Overall Suitability to the course
For PG Courses -
  1. Marks secured in Qualifying Examinations
  2. Entrance Exam (Assesses basic knowledge & aptitude for the course opted for)
    • Entrance exam will be objective type and will cover the papers that are generally part of all undergraduate courses- General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Health Psychology and Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology.
  3. Personal Interview
    • Personal Interview is used for assessing the candidate's Subject Knowledge, Aptitude, Communication skills, Attitude and Overall Suitability to the course.
